Toddlers are given the freedom to move, explore, and practice independence—pouring, sorting, caring for themselves and their classroom—within clear, consistent boundaries.
Children ages 3–6 build strong foundations in language, math, sensorial skills, and practical life. Multi-age classrooms encourage leadership, collaboration, and confidence.
Students in grades 1–3 build strong academic and social foundations through integrated, hands-on studies in math, language, science, geography, and culture. At this stage, children are naturally collaborative and imaginative, and the Montessori environment channels those traits into meaningful work. Lower Elementary students strengthen independence, develop problem-solving skills, and gain the confidence needed for deeper intellectual exploration.
The Upper Elementary years mark a significant developmental leap. Students in grades 4–6 take on increasingly complex, interdisciplinary studies and long-term projects that deepen their understanding of the world.
With growing abstract reasoning and leadership abilities, Upper Elementary students learn to manage greater responsibility, pursue research with purpose, and engage in collaborative work that prepares them for middle school and beyond.
Offering a true 4th–6th grade Montessori program gives students continuity and stability during a pivotal stage of growth.
Westside offers a variety of enrichment opportunities that complement the Montessori day and support busy families.

Montessori education is a child-centered approach developed by Maria Montessori that emphasizes hands-on learning, self-paced progress, and mixed-age classrooms. At Westside Montessori, the classroom is a “prepared environment” where children choose activities, engage with materials, and collaborate naturally. Traditional schools typically follow a teacher-led curriculum, grade-level classrooms, and a fixed pace for all students. In contrast, Montessori at Westside promotes independence, intrinsic motivation, and deep understanding by giving each child freedom within clear boundaries and a highly qualified Montessori-trained teacher as guide.
Private schools like Westside Montessori offer what most public and charter schools can’t: a 12:1 student-teacher ratio, certified educators who know every child by name, and the flexibility to let each student learn at their own pace. Families choose private school because they want a learning environment that’s safe, intentional, and focused on their child’s individual growth – not just standardized benchmarks. |
